A greeting for George
Bush foes promise peaceful, vigorous protest

Thousands of protesters will march from the Grand Parade to Pier 21 in Halifax on Wednesday morning, carrying placards and wearing black arm bands to protest against U.S. President George W. Bush and the war in Iraq, organizers say.

Tamara Lorincz of the Halifax Peace Coalition stressed they want the demonstration to be "absolutely peaceful." In fact, she said, she is bringing her five-month-old baby.

1. Bravo to Muriel Duckworth age 96!!
Muriel Duckworth, 96, plans to lead the protest in a wheelchair. She is a member of Canadian Voice of Women for Peace.

Short speeches and a moment of silence are planned and protesters will wear black arm bands or ribbons to "mourn the loss of innocent civilian lives in Afghanistan and Iraq," Ms. Lorincz said.

When Mr. Bush gives his speech, the demonstrators plan to turn their backs to him.

Ms. Lorincz said the coalition has been inundated with phone calls and e-mails.

2. Back Turning Protest
What a great idea--quiet but very visual. How can they throw you out if you are not uttering a sound?

6. Yep...
The responder obviously didn't read the article or is deliberately misrepresenting the report. The folks from the coalition were at the press conference. The protest isn't until WEDNESDAY.

Nice try, though. There's one in every crowd.
