Republican Certified as Wash. Governor; Recount Seen

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Republican Dino Rossi was certified as the winner of the Washington governor's race on Tuesday, but Democrats were expected to request a hand recount in the closest gubernatorial election in the state's history.

Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed certified Rossi as the winner in the drawn-out contest for governor of the Pacific northwest state with a 42-vote victory over Democratic Attorney General Christine Gregoire.

Gregoire's backers have until Friday to request a hand recount, which Reed said could delay the final outcome of the election for several more weeks.

Betcha an operative or two gets chewed out for this one.

"Stupid, moron! You have to steal a lot of votes to beat these Dems! Stop believing our propaganda! Most Americans hate us, see? That means you have to steal a lot of votes!"

Surely Gregoire will win this recount. 42 votes is nothing!
