Bill Maher Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit
LOS ANGELES -- Bill Maher is a "very public" bachelor who never promised to marry and support an ex-girlfriend suing him for more than $9 million, according to a court document.

Attorneys for Maher, responding to Nancy "Coco" Johnsen's lawsuit, said in a filing Tuesday there is no basis for her claims against the comedian and asked for the suit's dismissal.

"He never supported her financially, and he never promised to support her or to purchase any house for her," said the filing, calling Maher "a confirmed bachelor, and a very public one at that."

The two dated off and on for about 10 months and never lived together, according to the document, which also denies Johnsen's claims that Maher assaulted her and uttered racial slurs.

Mods, I'm not sure where exactly this news item fits in the scheme of things here. If Imus is news, I guess Maher is too. My apologies if I made the wrong choice.

1. I don't believe at least part of what she says
I always, and perhaps unfairly, side with women in such situations, but I don't believe this one. The idea that Maher promised to marry her? For years he has been saying, in the most public manner imaginable, that he would never marry. Even if he did tell her he would marry her, what women in her right mind would believe it?

2. I'd marry her... She is totally hot!
Maybe she's a whack a dooodle, but she is really, really attractive...

I could spend the rest of my life waking up next to her.

Can you tell that I like her? She's dreamy...

9. LOL....
"The way your boobs bounce when you throw those chairs at me makes me wann MELT!"

I can picture that, and yes, I would be willing to duck chairs to watch her boobs bounce...

For a little while...

No, never married to a whack a doodle, but I did date a stripper that looks just like Ms. Johnsen and when it was good it was very good, when it was bad I'd just stare at her boobs...

3. Something Funny's Going On.
I read a couple articles on whats going on. They say in a few places that she claims he made her quit her job at Delta Airlines (of 12 years) as a flight attendant that she loved.

I did a search on her and the only Nancy "Coco" Johnsen I can find appears to be some sort of porn star. The first link had a ton of 'nude' pictures.

So what is it? Porn star or Flight Attendant?

Honestly, if you date someone for 10 months or 17 months or whatever...I don't care what promises you make verbally, you can't just sue the person for 9 million. She's doing that because he has money and when you break up with someone who has money you don't just date his best friend, or whatever to retaliate you sue them.

If they had been legally living together, even unmarried, and had a public committed relationship, and then he broke up with her....I still don't think she should get anything.

If you don't want to get run over, then don't give the milk away for free.

I'm not saying that it's a sin to live with someone unless you're married, hell I did it a few times, but to sue afterwards is lame.

If he wants you to quit your job, and be his little toy, then say 'Marry me and I'll quit my job'. Don't just go off and do it, and then say "he made me". Honey, nobody made you do anything, it was your choice.

Sorry. That might not be the DU, PC thing to say about this kind of situation, but no matter how progressive I am I hate people who won't take responsibliity for themselves first and foremost.

4. Maher's always been against the "institution" of marriage,
and pretty outspoken about it too. Nor does he seem like the type who would schmooze for sex with someone named "Coco". Hell, he's got a key to the Playboy Mansion, his best buddy is Hugh Hefner!

"racial slurs"

Comedians usually give you a pretty good clue about their dark personality traits from their material, and I have to say that Bill has never come across as being someone who would use racial slurs based on past interviews and his body of work.

I don't know him and I could be 100% wrong, but that just doesn't sound like him.

7. He's capable
he'll say just about anything. I wouldn't put it past him to use racial slurs, thinking he was being funny.

8. Could be...good point. He does push the "trying to be funny" bit
sometimes.

Just going on gut feelings here as I pretty much admitted.

11. Wow, I just read the entire legal document....
Apparently she gets $5000.00 for an undertermined length of time for adult "baby-sitting".

She may not be as wholesome and all-American as I had thought. I will have to watch this story develop. I can't help but think that if she is available I have a pretty good shot at a date.
