Sikh-owned gas station burnt in US
http://us.rediff.com/news/2004/dec/01sikh.htm

December 01, 2004 09:43 IST

In a suspected case of hate crime, a gas station owned by a Sikh, Sarabjit Singh, was burnt in Chesterfield, Virginia, on November 24, a Sikh organisation said on Tuesday.

Ethnic slurs were also spray-painted on the property, the Sikh Council on Religion and Education said in a statement.

"We condemn the incident and hope that the concerned officials will investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice," SCORE chairman Rajwant Singh said.

Hate crimes against religious minorities have been on the rise in the US since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. According to recent media reports, quoting Federal Bureau of Investigation sources, the hate crimes almost doubled in 2003...

3. Idiots
I can recall reports of several Sikhs who were attacked or killed in the US after 9/11.

Here's a bulletin for Americans: Putting aside the *very* important fact that HATE CRIMES ARE WRONG for a moment, there's yet another important fact being ignored by these hate mongers: SIKHS ARE NOT MUSLIM!

If you see a person wearing a turban in the US, the odds are about 99.9% that they are Sikh. Moslems in the US have never really worn turbans in my experience.

But you know, I'm sure that doesn't even matter to the ignorant fascists who burned this man's business down.

5. One of them was the man who owned my grannie's neighborhood store.
She adored him. He was beaten to death outside his store on the evening of the 11th, early morning of the 12th. She lives in a great, new, upstanding, Fine Mormon Neighborhood. (TM)

The rest of the neighborhood has been great about keeping a memorial there, though (in accordance with family wishes) and in prosecuting the miscreants. But it really brought it home for all of us.

6. Particularly ironic,
since the Sikhs are about the only group I can think of that (in the aggregate) hates musilims as much as Americans do (again, in the aggregate).

The parts of India where Sikhism evolved was subject to frequent invasions from the Muslim west. An Indian friend once told me that the beards are supposed to be worn by Sikh men until the last Muslim is gone from the face of the earth.

Burning down this guy's business is like burning a redneck's truck because you think he's a Communist.

Idiots.

9. "You're either with us or against us"
And if you don't look like us, we suspect you're against us.

What was it that the Canadian protestor said about bush? "He's arrogant and ignorant."

No wonder so many voted for him. He (mis)leads an arrogant and ignorant nation.

10. I'm waiting for the investigation.
Got bent out of shape over a Pakistani who had his motel burned down by some racist pigs; big media reports, all due outrage from CAIR, properly condemning racist American society.

A few months later he was confronted with a few inconsistencies in his story and the data. And that he had recent, large insurance policies and old, large debts. He confessed to doing it himself.
