Former intelligence officials question Bush Iraq-al Qaida claims

Washington-AP -- Two former Bush administration intelligence officials say any evidence linking Saddam Hussein to al- Qaida was sketchy at best.

Before the war, President Bush said Saddam was harboring top al-Qaida operatives and suggested Iraq could slip the terrorist network chemical, biological or even nuclear weapons.But a former State Department intelligence official says intelligence agencies agreed there wasn't a "meaningful connection to al-Qaida" -- and said so to the White House and Congress.
