Sen. Dorgan: Administration breaking federal law
"This CRS report released today shows that the Administration’s moves to thwart agricultural sales to Cuba aren’t just bad policy. They appear to be illegal..."

http://dorgan.senate.gov/newsroom/record.cfm?id=229951

"(WASHINGTON, D.C.) --- U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) said Thursday that a legal analysis he requested from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Services (CRS) suggests tactics used by the Bush Administration to block sales of agricultural products to Cuba may be violating federal law. In a letter to Treasury Secretary John Snow and Secretary of State Colin Powell, Dorgan called on the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) to cease its attempts to shut down U.S. agricultural trade with Cuba. He noted federal law, originally sponsored by Dorgan in 2000, allows U.S. agricultural sales to Cuba."

(Not sure if this is a repost or not)

6. We'll just add it to the list
:eyes:

I appreciate Senator Dorgan speaking up, but this is minor compared to the other laws they've broken ... and no one held them accountable for those.

7. Federal law, lol. Laws don't apply to bush, inc.

And they know it.

In defense of the gang, tho, they are busy dealing with things like keeping our, er, Iraq's oil safe, super-terrorists with laser guns ready to pounce at any time, and maintaining a full scale assault on freedom, safety, and well-being at home.

They can't be bothered with laws and stuff.

They don't even try to hide it.

8. 11/24/04 U.S. Exporters to Cuba Say Cash Blocked
WASHINGTON (AP) - Some companies that sell food and agricultural products to Cuba are reporting that payments are not being credited to their bank accounts in the United States, according to a representative of a group that tracks business between the two countries.

John Kavulich, president of the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council Inc., said Tuesday that fewer than half a dozen companies have contacted his organization recently about such problems.

He said banks have confirmed receipt of payments from Cuba but have not credited the accounts of exporters on instructions from the U.S. government.

A spokeswoman for the Treasury Department said its Office of Foreign Assets Control, which enforces the economic embargo against Cuba, is looking into the matter. OFAC, she said, has been asked to clarify the government's policy regarding payments. She wouldn't say who requested the clarification.
