(Eldorado, KS) Union Tank announces April layoffs (90% of staff)

El Dorado's Union Tank Car repair facility is planning to shed nearly 40 jobs this coming spring.

Currently there are 44 people employed at the facility; however, Bruce Winslow, public relations and advertising manager for the Chicago-based company, said that number will be reduced to five in April 2005.

Winslow said Union Tank Car will be "reducing the scope of operations" at its El Dorado facility.

It also has a shop in Mexico, as well as a sister company in Canada which operates tank car repair shops.
