Nobel peace laureate Shirin Ebadi warns US: Do not invade Iran
http://www.iranwpd.com/

Dec. 10 - Shirin Ebadi, winner of the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, warned the United States Thursday it would face fierce resistance from the people if it were ever to try to invade Iran.

She told a meeting in Germany on human rights that Iranians wanted reforms, but that did not automatically mean they would tolerate, let alone welcome, interference by a foreign nation.

"Iran‘s people will not allow any foreign power to invade," the lawyer told the European Conference of Human Rights Cities in Nuremberg.

The gathering was attended by 96 representatives of cities, mostly French, that have municipal human rights policies.

"Democracy is not something you import like merchandise," she said. "It is not a gift you can give to another nation, or something you can impose with bombs. It has to arrive in an atmosphere of calm."

She said dissatisfaction was running high among the people of Iran, but they wanted change to come peacefully and without violence./-

1. good advice
Iran has twice Iraq's population, and unlike Iraq they haven't been softened up by a 2 wars and 12 years of sanctions. They have a very viable military. If Bush goes into Iran it will make Iraq look like Grenada.

5. Yes, that could possibly be China. China just made a deal with Iran to
purchase their oil from them.

4. It would be hard
to find a 'coalition of the drilling' on this one too. I think, were Atilla the Hun around he would claim conscientious objector status. You would need a 'coalition of the jarringly stupid'.

2. We no longer have an army capable of invading anyone.
So I'm not too worried.

9. except....
I am really afraid that they think they can pull the forces out of Iraq after the sham January election and then go into Iran. I agree with you that they don't have an army capable of invading anyone -- but the problem is that that is reality based thinking and we all know that they do not live in reality.

10. She's a true "visionary" whose voice should be heard,...
,...but WON'T by our neoCONfascists.

However, she will be heard by the rest of humanity.

13. We don't need
troops to attack Iran, per se. Just the bombs to drop from the air.

But that would be a HUGE mistake, too.
