Man arrested after woman shot in high school

Brampton, Ont. — Students hid under their desks in darkened classrooms for several hours Friday as police searched for a man who fled a high school after a woman was reportedly shot in the parking lot.

By mid-afternoon a man had been arrested after witnesses helped investigators track him down. A silver van was impounded and a search warrant was issued for a home in the community of Bolton, not far from this city northwest of Toronto.

Charges were not immediately laid.

None of the students at Bramalea Secondary School were hurt and all were accounted for and released by mid-afternoon.
