Yahoo: US denies backing Ukraine opposition candidate
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House denied that the United States favors a specific candidate in Ukraine's elections, amid questions about whether US taxpayer dollars went overwhelmingly to the pro-Western opposition.

"We do not support any particular candidate in Ukraine's presidential election. We support the Ukraine people in their efforts to have their will reflected through a peaceful, democratic process," said spokesman Scott McClellan.

"We have provided assistance to NGOs and other international organizations to help make sure that the elections in Ukraine are free and fair. But we don't get into supporting particular candidates," said McClellan.

Those comments came after Republican Representative Ron Paul (news, bio, voting record) of Texas said this week that he would like to see an investigation into how US money was spent on Ukraine's hotly disputed presidential election.

3. Really? Ron Paul (R) wants an investigation?
Hell, Ron!!! More power to ya'!!!!

Seriously!!!

Why don't we open an investigation into how US money is spent, period?

The American people deserve to know, don't they?

Let's see,...why don't we look at how taxpayer dollars have spent in Haiti and Venezuala, Sudan and Nigeria, Cuba and Zimbabwe,...goodness,...why don't we just make those books wide open!!! It would promote a REAL democracy here in the good ole' U.S. of A.!!!

Seriously!!!!
