Two U.S. troops killed in Iraq
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/09/10/sprj.irq.main/index.html

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- After days without an American fatality, two U.S. soldiers were killed in separate incidents over the last 24 hours in the Baghdad area, U.S. Central Command said.

A soldier with the 1st Armored Division was killed Wednesday when troops attempted to detonate an improvised explosive device, according to a Central Command statement.

The soldier was part of an explosive ordnance disposal unit in Baghdad working to dismantle the explosive. The team tried to detonate the explosive device with a 50-caliber weapon, but the device went off as "the soldier moved forward to investigate," Central Command said.

The soldier's identity was not released.

1. I do not believe that it has
been days since a soldier has been killed. I think that we are being lied to.

4. Well, they couldn't let anyone get killed while Rumsferatu was there
So they kept the soldiers off the streets as much as possible. :tinfoilhat:

9. You are being lied to..
-snip-

"Shortly after the speech, NBC’s Norah O’Donnell reported that a growing number of lawmakers, including Republicans, have lately expressed dismay at administration efforts to keep classified the number of U.S. casualties in Iraq. O’Donnell, speaking on MSNBC’s “Hardball With Chris Matthews,” said those casualties included more than 1,100 wounded in the conflict to date."

12. You are right Skittles
Just listened to Walter Rogers reporting live from Baghdad on CNN a few minutes ago, and he said 6 American soldiers have been killed in the last 24 hours. I thought I was hearing things but my wife was listening too and I asked her what did he just say? She said he just reported that 6 American soldiers were killed in the last 24 hours. I just about fell down. He may have mispoke? But he did not make any attempt to correct himself.

3. The real casualty rate is classified
The media reports what they are told to report, not the truth.

7. Colin Powell wouldn't lie dammit!
http://www.usembassy.lt/pas/hyperfile/eur105.htm

When questioned regarding casualty reports by the "pull no punches paragon of presstitution" Tim Russert he responded thusly:

MR. RUSSERT: Before we turn to Iraq, on Afghanistan, al-Qaida has released a new tape this morning saying that there will be more attacks inside and outside of the United States, but also that they shot down two helicopters, killing 38 passengers, and that American casualties in Afghanistan over the last few weeks have been quite severe but not reported.

SECRETARY POWELL: No, I don't pay any attention to that kind of reporting. We report our casualties, report incidents, in an honest and open and candid way. This is the usual propaganda.

p.s. I'm trying out my freeper disguise for Halloween. }(

5. Help Please
Would someone refer me to an article that runs down all the rosey predictions for post-invasion Iraq made by this (illegal) administration prior to the war?

6. WTF?

The EOD man did not follow standard RSP. Maybe he was not EOD trained. EODs do have untrained assistants.

Still it is sad to lose a man like that.

10. From CBS Report Danes were targeted as well today
U.S. soldiers, their Danish counterparts and Iraqi civilians were targeted by insurgents' attacks in the 24 hours ending Wednesday, with Americans and Iraqis paying in blood.

Near Baghdad, a U.S. soldier was killed and one was wounded Tuesday evening when a homemade bomb exploded near a military vehicle on a supply route northeast of the capital, the U.S. Central Command said Wednesday. The death was the first to be reported by the U.S. military in eight days, although sporadic attacks had continued against occupying forces.

A suicide car bomber struck the U.S. intelligence headquarters in Irbil, a Kurdish security official said. He said four Iraqis were killed, including the bomber and a 12-year-old boy. Six Americans were wounded, three of them with serious injuries to their abdomen caused by flying glass.

Forty-one Iraqi's were hurt, the official said, adding that the suicide bomb vehicle was packed with TNT. He said several homes in the neighborhood, which was cordoned off by U.S. soldiers, were destroyed. The official spoke on condition of anonymity

For the third time in two weeks, anti-tank rockets were fired at, but missed, the headquarters of Denmark's 400-man military contingent in southern Iraq, the Danish military said Wednesday. No one was injured in the failed attack, Denmark's Army Operational Command said.

11. After getting such great results.....
from blowing up the U.N. I am sure they are
planning much bigger things. I am more
uneasy when there are quiet times as it
hints that they are using their resources
for plotting bigger things.

Sending more of anything over there just
gives them more targets.
