Ex-Enron treasurer pleads guilty (5 year sentence)
http://www.msnbc.com/news/964367.asp?0cm=c21

A former Enron Corp. treasurer pleaded guilty Wednesday to a federal charge related to the scandal that toppled the energy company, signaling a possible deal to cooperate with authorities against higher-ranking executives.

BEN GLISAN, who earlier pleaded innocent to multiple charges of money laundering, wire fraud and conspiracy as part of a 109-count indictment against his one-time boss, former Enron finance chief Andrew Fastow, changed his plea to guilty on a single count of conspiracy.

<snip>

Just last week, Hoyt ruled that Fastow would be tried separately next year from his two co-defendants, setting Fastow’s trial for April 20, Glisan’s for July 20 and former finance executive Dan Boyle’s for Aug. 17.

<snip>

Prosecutors have frozen about $23 million held in bank and brokerage accounts by Fastow, his family and others. Of those, more than $900,000 is in an account in the names of Glisan and his wife, Barbara.

2. I think Fastow deserves a heck of a lot more
He's the slime behind most of this, I think. Even more so than Lay. However, Lay, by virtue of his position, shoulkd have known and should be held accountable. I'm not holding my breath.

Wonder what sentence he'd have gotten if he was black and stole $900....

4. Is former Secretary of the Army Thomas White in any danger?
Let's start seeing these dominos fall!

I can't wait to see Linda Lay on national TV again, wailing about how she and Kenny Boy are down to their last four houses and last $10 million.

6. 365 Days Divided By Billions
Plus the cost of the retirement funds lost, the added burden to the social services and the price of the investegation and prosecution is equal to not nearly enough time for these f**kers.

White-Collar Crime on this level should rank on an equal level with child-abusers in the Penal System: they've screwed millions if not the nation as a whole.

9. At this rate, Ken Lay will be prosecuted in the year 2012
But by then the gov't won't have any money left to prosecute crimes.

10. heh heh, I agree.
I have serious doubts that Ken Lay or Jeffrey Skilling will ever see the inside of a jail cell. Lay in particular is immune. I read recently that he's started a new company and attends upscale parties in Houston. He's too well connected with the BFEE. He's a member of their little group.

A Newsweek article said recently that Bush was so heavily involved with Lay and Enron (while it was still functioning)that "it's the closest thing to Enron in office".
