Afghan Minister Quits After Failing to Shut Down Relief Groups
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBXOBGGP2E.html

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - An Afghan Cabinet minister resigned Monday after President Hamid Karzai rejected his drive to shut down relief groups he accused of wasting money on expensive cars and houses.
Planning Minister Ramazan Bashardost said he stepped down ahead of a Cabinet meeting on Monday expected to be the last before a reshuffle following Karzai's recent election victory.

Several members of Karzai's interim government have called on donor countries to channel more support to the poverty-stricken country through its slowly re-emerging ministries, despite concerns about corruption.

But Bashardost has gone much further, accusing aid groups in a string of media interviews of frittering away billions on themselves.

Karzai already distanced himself from an earlier outburst in which the minister said relief groups' wastefulness was encouraging the militant attacks that have killed more than 30 aid workers this year.

Sounds like some of these NGO's who never leave Kabul are living large? Wonder who is paying for it?
