Kerik kept first wife a secret (possible bigamy)
http://www.nynewsday.com/news/nyc-wife1214,0,2382932.story?coll=nyc-homepage-headlines

Investigators conducting a background check of Bernard Kerik last week as part of his confirmation hearing uncovered that the then-Secretary of Homeland Security nominee was married to a woman he has apparently kept a secret for the past 20 years.

-snip-

Instead, he wrote about only two marriages, one to a New Jersey woman named Jacqueline, whom he married in 1983 when he was 28, and one to his current wife, Hala, whom he married in 1998.

But Kerik, who withdrew his name for consideration for the nation's top security post on Friday, was also married to the former Linda Hales in North Carolina. Kerik and Hales, who has since remarried and changed her name to Priest, were married Aug. 10, 1978, when she was 27 and he was three weeks shy of 24, according to her lawyer, Ronnie Mitchell. They separated in 1982 and were officially divorced June 6, 1983, Mitchell told Newsday.

In Kerik's book, however, he wrote that he married Jacqueline in the winter of 1983, raising questions about whether his first and second marriages overlapped.

1. The winter of 1983 could be interpreted as starting on

December 22, 1983, after the divorce, though it would span the beginning of 1984.

Nothing there, I think.

2.  In his haste to promote himself,he didn't prepare the perfect cover story
From the article:
He wrote that by December, 1981, he had left North Carolina and returned to New Jersey. A short time after he arrived back in his native state, he met a woman named "Jackie" through a woman visiting an inmate housed in the jail where Kerik worked as a guard.

In October, 1982, he left Passaic for a security position at a Saudi Arabian hospital, "but I found I missed Jackie."

"After four months in Saudi Arabia, I flew home to New Jersey and we were quickly engaged and married," he wrote. "We honeymooned in Spain, and then I returned to Riyadh and Jackie went back to the states."

He wrote that he returned to New Jersey a few months later in the "spring of 1983" and then returned to Saudi Arabia with Jacqueline.

When questioned yesterday, an aide to Kerik maintained that, contrary to what he wrote in his autobiography, Kerik married Jacqueline in September, 1983. The aide said Kerik also recalls that he and Linda Kerik divorced in 1981 or 1982 and afterward "they made a mutual agreement between the two of them never to talk about it."
His reference to his first wife, from his autobiography:
"Before I left for the Middle East," he wrote, "I had fallen head over heels for a beautiful southern belle, but after I returned we quickly realized it wasn't meant to be."
Sounds very much like something he couldn't live with comfortably.

11. I would be willing to bet that his "19yr old MP hookup in Korea"
was with a 16 yr old Korean girl.. Just a hunch..

I cannot see a grown Korean woman being interested in a 19 yr old GI.
Having seen how some 19 yr old soldiers behave, I would bet money that the "Korean woman who he had a child with, and later abandoned" was a teenaged girl..

Leopards do not change their spots..He grew up "fast and loose" and that's the way he's led his entire life..

Hey, someone has to support the family. It's a lousy job those poor kids do, you can't help but feel sorry for them.

The older bargirls usually know how to avoid those pesky pregnancies. A young girl wouldn't be as savvy.

20. The "journalists actually doing their job" part - well, Michael Issikof
lamented on Olbermann's show last night that the bad part of Kerik being outed like this and having to take himself out of contention was that "he's such a colorful guy, he would have made great copy."

Gee, is THAT why this story gets you, asshole?

If this were Clinton, Issikof would be off the deep end about it, screaming and rending his garments and invoking the "I" word (impeachment) up one side of the room and down the other - or getting "inside sources" within republi-CON circles to do it so he can then repeat it in his story. Ever see any of that in his bush coverage? Any at all?

Fuck Michael Issikof.

Or maybe - NOT fuck Michael Issikof.

The guy is a sociopath. No wonder he loves Sir Rudy who married his cousin (first cousin) and kept on having affairs as a badge of honor. For the life of me, I could never picture myself having sex with my cousins. That would be like having sex with my brothers. What a bunch of low-life bastards.

I don't understand how a person with an arrest warrant gets to be close to the president of the US, roams freely throughout the White House, is assigned contracts in Iraq...etc. From bankruptcy, he becomes a millionaire...Capitalism at its best.

52. His FIRST WIFE was his cousin
Donna was Numbah 2, Judy Numbah 3.

He dumped Numbah 1 because she COULD NOT CONCEIVE. He even got an ANNULMENT, so it sorta didn't count with the ole Catholic church. Her name was Regina Perrugi, and they were married a LONG TIME--68 to 82. But hey, lousy womb, lousy woman...off ya go!!!

Rudy's a sick, selfish fucker. Just like his chauffeur, Bernie Kerik. He thought he was so clever, but I'm sure he could never imagine that all the time he spent giving speeches to help the reelection of BushCo would come to this ignominious end. Now, not only does he have NO inside guy in the administration, he's also painted as a stupid asshole who makes bad recommendations.

You have to wonder if BushCo saw this coming, and decided to let it play out. I can't imagine that they did such a poor job of vetting this guy, unless they are either all afraid to cross the boyking, or they did it for a reason. Kill two birds with one stone, as it were. Karl Rove is a clever bastard, I think....

17. This kinda throws the repuke defense of gay marriage out the
window, doesn't it? I have heard Santorum say that if "we allow gays to marry, who is going to stop people from marrying more than one, etc." I even heard a kid in one of my gov. classes say that this might let people think it's okay to marry animals (I am NOT kidding - this was in a college class - he was a worshipper of our idiotic governor Mitt Romney). I had to leave the class.

But this totally screws up there basis for not allowing it - they appoint someone who is a bigamist?

...didn't Rudy live with "two gay guys and a shit-shu?"

The more I think about it, and the more coverage I see, days and days after Kerik has withdrawn (now they are speculating that the "nanny" story was a total canard, to cover up for the bigamy, the affairs, and the mob ties), I swear that BushCo let this happen to completely de-ball the Rudy wing of the GOP.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer--the easier to stick a shiv in them.

In the vetting process, which was conducted by the office of White House counsel Alberto R. The existence of the dispute was first reported by Newsweek Friday night.

This is getting ridiculous. He's already withdrawn from the position. It's already clear he was a poor choice and the Bush administration didn't bother to clear him. This is degenerating into gossip. Why doesn't the press concentrate more on what the administration is up to now than on the personal lives of failed nominees. The tawdry always wins out over substance.

As I said above, this is starting to look like they threw the Nanny story out there like a chunk of red meat, hoping the reporters would jump on it and ignore the affairs, the bigamy, the mob ties, the suspicious contracts and deals. Pesky reporters...they spend four years sleeping, and then wake up and sorta kinda do their job.

And if the White House failed to vet the guy (and I can't believe that they didn't do any background checks--hell, Bernie was getting TS briefings when his nomination was announced, without a clearance) then the White House is totally INCOMPETENT. I think they are stupid and vicious, but I won't "misunderestimate" them. I think they planned this from the git-go, to cut off Rudy's nuts and make him less viable in future. They want to define the future of the GOP, and they are getting rid of anyone or any faction that makes waves or challenges their authority. Vicious, clever bastards, they!

Well, I can't say that for a fact.

But as far as opinions go, it's a goodie.

62. Why do I think
child porn when I see this guy? He is just such a sleazeball that nothing would surprise me now. Come on NY Post, tell us what else does Bernie like to do?
