Texas 10 Arrive Home
Edited on Wed Sep-10-03 05:03 PM by Trek234
Watching local Houston 2 News. It is breaking news - the Texas 10 are back. Currently standing together on a stage speaking.

*Say they came back because one defected and broke the plan.

1. They should declare that Whitmore is a total traitor
and will be refused to be recognized until he formally apologizes again and flees with the Texas 11 and the Killer D's 51.

2. So what does this mean?
They are back - and the 3rd session was called just the other day.

Does this mean the repubs will be able to complete the redistricting scheme?

They are about to permently lose 9 more seats, even without an election. Tell me they arn't just sitting like bumps on a log.

5. Bullshit!
Another dem could have left the state to take place holder #11's spot in New Mexico. They let one guy take the fall -- but they ALL gave in.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit!

I would have never dreamed the Killer Ds from Texas would have folded. Now they have all killed their political careers. The Tex Dems have wasted almost $4 mill fighting two redistricting special sessions, which was for naught since they gave in. They ALL gave in. Now, instead of blaming Gov. Goodhair for the wasted money for the special sessions, it is the Dems who are responsible for the wasted money. Watch - we will lose seats to the redistricting scheme AND the dems who fled to Texas.

Has anyone noted that when the turncoat dem returned to Houston that a different dem could have left the state? No one is on the butt of the remaining tex dems who could have maintained the block.

8. Killer D's
I can't believe this is over. I'm hoping they are just taking advantage of the 30 days to spend a little time with family and get fresh drawers for a trip to another friendly Gov's state. They have something up their sleeves.

20. Come on, you have to give them a lot of credit
They have held out for almost two months, unable to go home to their families. One of them has a newborn baby at home, and another has a mother who is sick. I think they are very brave and to be commended for holding out as long as they did.

11. I've heard that that Dem votes with Repukes on everything...
a true DINO.

So in effect, there are only 11 Texas St. Sen. Dems.

12. Blasted! Is there one case of any repuke voting as a dem?
in the fed or state levels? Just ONE? Why is the dem party filled with turncoats? Never mind. It must pay big to pretend to be a dem but come through for the repukes down the line.

of all the donations they received. Guess it now rests with the rightwing courts and we know what will most likely happen there, laws ONLY apply to Democrats

21. the 10
Be fair, the ten democratic senators did not cave or fold. When one came back, it was over; the Republicans have a quorum and they have redistricting. The ten would only be vilified for "not showing up for work" if they had stayed out for no reason and with no effect.

They're still out a lot of money and time and effort. The one who caved was Whitmire. I disapprove of what he did, but even he has a point; Perry said he was going to keep calling special sessions, and most of the senators couldn't afford to stay gone forever. Texas pays its elected officials a pittance. Unless they are independently wealthy, they have to have other jobs.

(And please, get the different groups straight. The Killer D's were reps and 54 left to prevent the quorum. The 11 were senators.)

16. It will go to court anyway and the first plan will once again be installed
The first plan upheld by two courts.

They made their point and I am sure they want to be home. Good for them.

19. But . . .
But the Texas Courts drew up that redistricting plan and I would think their instinct would not be to cede more power to the legislative branch. Voting for the judges map is a vote for the judicial branch imho.

23. Colorado will throw out its redistricting plan that the Repukes set up
in a few days and the Repukes will appeal to the USSC, PULLING the Texas redistricting plan in play ONCE again -- and if USSC agrees that the Repukes' redistricting plan is illegal, then the TX Dems win.
