To Pay Debt, Nader Selling His Parents' Cookbook
The following is the last item of a political notebook in the WP:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10891-2004Dec18.html

It is probably just a matter of time before Ralph Nader is hawking apples on the street corner.

In this space two weeks ago, it was noted that Nader, the celebrated consumer advocate cum laughingstock presidential candidate, was seeking to pay off his campaign debt by selling autographed copies of his decades-old book "Unsafe at Any Speed" for $100 each. Nader, who received a whopping 429,000 votes last month, needed $450,000 to retire his debt.

Evidently, the old books didn't sell. Last week, Nader sent an e-mail to supporters asking them to buy a copy of a cookbook published 13 years ago by his mother and father. The book, "It Happened in the Kitchen: Recipes for Food and Thought," can be yours, Nader says, "for a contribution of $100 or more to our campaign -- which as you know was driven into debt by a multi-million dollar dirty tricks operation perpetrated by the Democratic Party."

What will Nader cook up next?

6. If the bastard needs the money
...he should ask everyone who voted for him to send him a dollar, then he'd have four grand left over.

Screw Ralph, King of Hubris and not much else. He should ask his pals in the GOP to pony up the cash....after all, they were willing to bankroll him in every competitive Dem state. Some friends, Ralphie...but then, he was the only one who didn't see it. The old fool!

7. Or perhaps he could ask some of those deep pocketed repubs...
...who were funding his campaign to pay up?

8. The out of control ego on that man
is really unbelievable.

No, Ralph, we don't want you for president. We don't want your cookbook, either. We could use a sane voice, but you've stopped being that when personal attention became more important that attention to the issues.

16. Thank you for sharing your story. The best thing you can do...
is to tell it loud and clear and often wherever and whenever.

Deepest sympathies, and all the best to you.

14. Isn't it time to let up on Nader...

.....or did he lose the election for the DNC????

I could understand this attitude before the election and I sort of supported the marginalization of Nader. Now, however, it appears that there are bigger problems in the DNC, than worrying about losing votes to a more progressive 3rd party candidate.

It could be argued that marginalizing Nader was what lost the election.

18. Looks like Ralph paid less per vote than Democratic canidates!
In 2004 at least. Of course, he didn't have to worry about votes being taken by electronic fraud. And he was a hell of a lot more frank about electoral fraud goin' on than John Kerry!
