Time is right for Bush to join an elite band
Times
By Tim Reid

PRESIDENT BUSH has been chosen as Time magazine’s Person of the Year, after winning re-election and “reshaping the rules of politics to fit his ten-gallon-hat leadership style”.

Mr Bush was chosen for “sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively) . . . and for persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years.”

The magazine gives the honour to the person who had the greatest impact, good or bad. Mr Bush also won in 2000 and joins six other Presidents who have won twice: Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower (first as a general), Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Franklin Roosevelt had three nominations.

In an interview with Time, Mr Bush attributed his victory over John Kerry to his clear and unflinching foreign policy and his belief that it would ultimately lead to peace. He said that he relishes the fact that he alienates some people. “I think the natural instinct for most people in the political world is that they want people to like them,” he said.

4. He and most of Congress are denying civil rights to a great
many people. They should all be impeached and thrown out. If we can't count on our representatives to follow the Constitution we do not have a legitimate government.
