Honduran President Says He Will Increase Security After Receiving Death Threats
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) -- President Ricardo Maduro announced Monday that he was increasing security for himself and his family after receiving death threats from criminal groups the government is investigating in Honduras.
"We have information from a good source that someone would like to hurt me and my family,'' Maduro told a news conference. "This has to do with threats I've received from groups outside Honduras and inside the country,'' he said.
Maduro said the source of the threats are "common or organized crime groups that are being investigated by my government.''
