Bush Calls for Compassion on Christmas

>President Bush (news - web sites) issued a Christmas Day call for compassion toward the sick and suffering, urging Americans to volunteer to help the neediest among their fellow citizens.<

> "Many of our fellow Americans still suffer from the effects of illness or poverty, others fight cruel addictions, or cope with division in their families, or grieve the loss of a loved one," he said. "Christmastime reminds each of us that we have a duty to our fellow citizens, that we are called to love our neighbor just as we would like to be loved ourselves. By volunteering our time and talents where they are needed most, we help heal the sick, comfort those who suffer, and bring hope to those who despair, one heart and one soul at a time."<

4. Put your money where your mouth is, then
Take back the tax breaks for the rich and the no-bid contracts for corporations. Make sure that the homeless have a safe, warm place to stay. Make sure the ill, including the mentally ill, have access to doctors and treatment. Make sure the children of this country have hope via increased Pell Grants, fully funded schools that do more than teach to a test, and no huge deficit hanging over their heads. Show not only compassion but justice by stopping all forms of torture and bringing ALL those who condoned it to justice.

6. I feel nauseated
What has this man done to help the poor and needy? I'd like a list. He has shredded an already compromised social safety net; he and his buddies have made it clear that they're not interested in anyone who isn't rich, white and Republican.

It is sad and shameful that nobody from the MSM will say a word about this.

7. Thats right-wing code for "screw those peasants"......
"They'll get no government handouts on my watch".

Fuck you chimpy!, and stop taking the Lord's name in vain. You are the exact opposite of what a true Christian should be.

8. Irony
It's ironic that this topic currently is right next to the topic about the Texas dad who's selling his kids gifts on eBay.

I guess that's what they call "compassionate conservatism". (Or as Bush says, "conservativism".)

12. Does this fuckwit have no shame?
I'm so furious right now...reading that sick, twisted piece of shyte that Bush trolled out.

"One heart and one soul at a time." OhmyfrickinGod!!! Does this man have ANY shame? Did he get those lines from Hallmark greeting cards or what?

His tax cuts gave windfalls to yacht owners, while the poorest of the poor receive zilch. His corporate tax breaks hand over buckets of dollars to companies that send jobs overseas. The man CREATES poverty and misery--and now he urges us to bring "hope to those who despair" and "comfort those who suffer"?

As if this boob gives a hoot about anyone who makes under $250k!

I'm gonna hurl my eggnog.

Maybe Bush is subconsciously pleading that we have compassion for him--because he knows his chimp hiney is toast. Maybe he understands that this fraudulent election will soon be exposed.

Just when I think that I've reached my threshold for revulsion at Bush's evil, he opens his mouth on a major holiday and manages to raise the bar.

Suck it, you freak!

Here! Have a chocolate-coated pretzel!!

I'm sorry for the swearing and vulgarity, I just can't help it!

14. Poverty has risen during his administration...
and will continue to rise, as will the gap between rich and poor, and he can utter such words without any notice of that fact by the media?

What kind of hypocrisy is this? The new Republican kind.

1300 American soldiers dead in Iraq, countless Iraqis dead, for a completely useless, asinine and bungled war.

When he said, "They never stop thinking of ways to harm our country, and neither do we", it was no Freudian slip.

18. And, in a related story:

George W. Bush calls on neighbors to "volunteer" to help out Tiny Tim.

Update : George W. Bush announces plans to cut all public assistance to Tiny Tim, declares Tiny Tim at no risk thanks to "outpouring of volunteerism".

Further update : George W. Bush blames death of Tiny Tim on "moral decline" and "welfare mentality", demands further cuts in services to the poor.

Update #3 : GWB announces plan to "reform" Bob Cratchitt's Social Security, declares that SS system has become "unstable" following passage of large (and "entirely unrelated") tax cuts for Ebenezer Scrooge.

Update #4: Ebenezer Scrooge relocates firm to Malaysia, cites "unreasonable heating demands" by Bob Cratchitt.

Update #5 : Ebenezer Scrooge nominated by Bush for Secretary of Labor.

29. crap
Dear George: You left out the suffering of all the young teenagers who, since 2001, discovered they were gay and commited suicide because your homophobia and fundie-preachers hell-and-damnnation drove them to it. Of course it's too late to help them now. And even if it were possible to bring them back, The Rev. Fred Phelps - who fundies refuse to condemn - would rekill them.
And a merry christmas to you mr. president.
