ABC News: Bush Sends Condolences to Asia, Offers Aid
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=360856

CRAWFORD, Texas Dec 26, 2004 — President Bush expressed his condolences Sunday to the victims of the massive earthquake and tidal waves that hit southern and southeast Asia. Officials said U.S. relief efforts already were underway.

"The United States stands ready to offer all appropriate assistance to those nations most affected," deputy presidential press secretary Trent Duffy said in a statement.

The statement, issued aboard Air Force One en route to Texas from Washington, said "the president expresses his sincere condolences" over the "terrible loss of life and suffering" caused by the earthquake and tidal waves that hit six countries.

as we are in debt up to all our assholes because of this fucked up immoral war I started and the great big fat tax breaks I gave to the wealthy."

No wait, he'd never say that because it's the truth.

bush is a sociopathic scumbag from HELL.

6. bush* has happily diverted any and all Iraq relief aid, over to India,
Indonesia and Sri Lanki, so he can look like a "compassionate conservative".....

I'm sure bush* is thrilled that this massive earthquake/sunami is diverting Americans attention from the bush* Christmas Falluja human massacre and crushing/destroying all their buildings, coupled with bush* starvation effort all across Iraq and bush* effort to transport ANOTHER 30,000 American cannon fodder into Iraq....nobody will notice the continuous killing and looting of iraq, as halliburton, lockheed-martin, saic, and others steal OUR tax dollars....

now, the bush* White House big-time parties can proceed unhindered, and the massively arrogant bloated expensive inauguration (in time of war) will be off the news....and nobody will care which reTHUGlican war-profiteeting campaign-contributers visit at the pig farm....or sleep at OUR White House....

just when Americans are turning against bush* and his minions, another massive disaster strikes and saves the anti-Christ....bad luck again....both for us, and the rest of the world...

7. Bush sends condolences to brown people who worship idols . . .
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 11:26 PM by hatrack
with way too many arms and don't believe in Jay-zus and who burn incense and don't wear no proper shoes and don't even own cars, lots of 'em, and that's why he went out of his way to send the deputy press secretary out with a statement.

Now, as soon as they confirm some American casualties, I'm sure he'll leap in front of a camera within minutes.

And I'm equally sure the Bush administration is readying an aid package of thousands of dollars even as we speak. After all, nothing can stand in the way of Freedom's March in Iraq. We'll declare War On Seismic Terror sometime later . . .

12. such a low-level PR effort, that the actual PRESS SECRETARY
couldn't be bothered with it during this hyper-partying greedy decadent holiday season for bush* and his whole cabal....

the only low-level bushite willing to break away for a SHORT statement was the DEPUTY press secretary (how sad and pathetic)....like many important issues (911 terror warnings CIA PDB's), I'm sure condi hasn't even brought it up to bush* or bothered to assess what this means to OUR National Security....condi must be securing other things in bush* pig farm bedroom).....

he didn't get to kill them himself. And his pals haven't made a dime off it.

But wait! There are the insurance companies that won't have to pay off. *whew* there's hope for massive profits, yet.

it's sarcasm, borne of the fact that bush and his cronies don't give a DAMN about anything unless it is profitable to them in some way

11. He's gonna borrow the money because we don't have it now
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 11:46 PM by Selatius
On this case, I would not mind him borrowing money to pay for aid to the survivors of this disaster, but we wouldn't be so deep in the hole if it weren't for the war in Iraq and the tax cuts. The 9/11 attacks contributed to it as well, which was more reason to get rid of the tax cuts for the wealthiest folks and leave it intact for everyone else.

16. How can he send aid when he's already bankrupted this country?
He'll have to borrow more from his friendly Chinese and Japanese bankers, and add to the federal debt.

I don't think Bush is sending anything more than the usual pablum.

20. Now I'm really impressed. Don't we all see now that the man has a
heart?

"stands ready to offer all appropriate assistance"! How much nicer it would have been had he said he is sending some millions of dollars right away, or WHICH relief efforts are under way - anything tangible! The other western and many other countries did so at once...

21. Some relief co-ordinator has reported...
that the good ole USA will be sending $100,000. Surely that measley amount can't be correct! He was speaking from Sri Lanka, so maybe that's just what we're going to send there, but still, it seems rather piddling considering the size of this disaster!?! They have 10,000 dead just in Sri Lanka, alone!

Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 09:01 AM by lebkuchen
Was it even in the $100,000 range...I only recall that it was extremely low.

I can't wait to see how he defines compassion to Asia.

24. USA USED to send FEMA teams Plus $$$$$
Before Bush, the US would send skilled Federal Emergency Management Agency "response teams", who were of great assistance to local emergency responders. during W's first term, Germany offered to pay ALL costs (salary, benefits, travel costs, housing, etc.) for some FEMA teams to come to Germany to train Germany's emergency response teams. Bush refused. That kind of shoot-yourself-in-the-foot "diplomacy" , along with his disastrous economic policies is why the US has become a has-been as a world power, and we see the rapid ascendancy of China as a world leader. I bet China steps in with significant financial assistance.

they aren't really 'appropriate assistance.' just in case he might get confused.

27. Well that depends on how bad things really are...
What effect is this going to have on Smiley Mart's 1st quarter projections? A couple dozen MOABs may be necessary if those factories aren't up and running by the end of the week.

28. What do they mean by "stands ready to offer...assistance"?
That doesn't sound like a concrete offer of aid to me. Russia and Kuwait have already said specific things they will do. Have we given any indication of a plan?

29. How long did it even take Bush to acknowledge a problem in Asia?
I kept waiting to hear on CNNI last night, but went to bed without word.

Does Bush have the US pissed off at all of Asia now, too?

That's fundamentalist born again "compassion" for you.
