Breaking: FBI Responds To Threat Involving Bus at Naval Station
Breaking News - FBI Responds To Threat Involving HRT Bus That Entered Naval Station Norfolk

The FBI is responding to an incident at Naval Station Norfolk. There are conflicting reports on the situation. But there are reports that a threat was made about an HRT bus entering the Navy base.

The Hampton Roads Transit president has told WAVY News 10 that they received a threatening call to their transportation center. The caller made a threat that if a specific HRT bus made it onto the Navy base; somebody was going to die.

The bus was able to get onto the base. Officials have stopped the bus at the fleet recreation park and have it contained. Norfolk police, FBI, NCIS, Navy Special Forces Bomb Squad, and other agencies are investigating.

People go berserk. We have lots of tornados here and the local weather guy says people will call in during a tornado warning and scream at them for pre-empting General Hospital! :D

23. You'd think, even though it did turn out to be a hoax,
...that they would have run a CRAWL underneath the picture, so people who gave a damn could switch channels. But I guess that would impact their advertising dollars. Can't get in the way of commerce, I suppose!

16. Most recent Virginia Pilot article below:
http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?story=79912&ran=150498

Brantley said police were interviewing bus passengers. It was unclear whether a passenger made the call to police, but the caller specifically mentioned one bus by its number, Brantley said. That bus was pulled over, as was another, after the call was received between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

Everyone within 1,500 yards of the park was evacuated, Brantley said.

Base bomb threat found to be hoax

22. probably a training exercise ... the quoted times are jumbled
...
At 9:50 a.m., city police were notified that Navy police had received information that there was a toxic substance on board a bus that was going to kill people on the base, said Jack Goldhorn, a spokesman for Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

Another Norfolk official gave a slightly different version of events. Ron Keys, Norfolk’s director of emergency preparedness and response, said Navy dispatchers received a call about a possible drunken driver on an HRT bus on Hampton Boulevard near the base. The Navy alerted Norfolk police.

A short time later, Norfolk dispatchers received a 911 call from a pay phone on Hampton Boulevard, Keys said. The call was traced to a pay phone at a 7-11 store near the 8200 block of Hampton, Amos said.

i like that the bus number given was 936 but they also stopped the 911 !

24. Police investigating TX Wal Mart bomb hoax
http://www.mysanantonio.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D879UKPO0.html

Investigators are looking at surveillance video in hopes of identifying the person who planted a hoax bomb in a Wal-Mart Supercenter, causing a three-hour evacuation.

Someone called the store Tuesday afternoon and told employees that there was a bomb inside, police said.

A bomb squad from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives removed the package and determined it was a fake.

Mansfield police spokesman officer Thad Penkala said they were working with investigators from Colleyville, where a pipe bomb was found Tuesday in a park. Colleyville police closed a road for more than an hour as an explosives team detonated the pipe bomb found along a creek.
