Republicans to contest Wash. governor's race
Republicans have no problem contesting elections, despite all the baloney they were spouting on 1/6/05 about the Democrats. First, California, where they managed to overturn a duly elected Grey Davis, now this:

Republican challenges Washington vote
Democrat won governor’s election by 129 after two recountsThe Associated Press
BELLEVUE, Wash. - Republican Dino Rossi and the state GOP announced Friday they will contest the gubernatorial election that gave his Democratic foe, Christine Gregoire, a 129-vote victory.

Republicans have been building a case over the past few weeks, gathering evidence of voting irregularities, including illegal provisional ballots and a handful of votes cast by dead people. They are pushing for a revote, an unprecedented step in a statewide election. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6793577/

2. This will look even sillier after Governor Gregoire's inauguration
If she can make it to inauguration day without any bullshit court orders that stop her there will be no way to overturn the election. It will look like Gregoire the adult going about the business of running the state, while Rossi pretends to be governor like a child playing house.

I should also point out that at no time during the 2000 election standoff did the Gore campaign ever call for a re-vote. There was a separate lawsuit in Palm beach County put together by local citizens, but it was never endorsed by the Gore campaign, nor did Gore's lawyers ever call for a new election to be held anywhere in Florida. All they asked for was that the votes be counted.

3. The Ukraine was the template
Besides getting the preferred pro-west candidate into power, it legitimized the idea of a re-vote in the mind of the public. I suspect the news media will pump this one up over the next little while. They just have to pick a color for the "revolution".

5. guess Rossi didn't get the memo
On Thursday more than one repug stood on their rubber stamps in the House and Senate

among the comments regarding the Electoral objection included: equating the objection to emboldening those who seek to destroy our freedoms, and other comments were that those who object were tinfoil hatter and this was a waste of time

is Rossi seeking to destroy our freedoms by protesting the election? is he wearing a tinfoil hat, or just wants to be a time waster?

7. Let's offer the RepUGLYcans a deal:
Revote both the Ohio presidential race and the Washington State gubernatorial race.

Paper ballots Only for both. Bi-partisan observers at both recounts. Only voters who cast a vote in the races can vote in the revote, with the exception for Ohio that registered voters that were in long lines and didn't vote or couldn't wait for hours to vote should be allowed to vote this time.

Count Every Vote!

9. Too bad they're not blaming the machines
Now if their requested re-re-re-recount included a peek into the "proprietary" machine code of the voting machines, now there's one recount that we could all support!

11. Senate
The side story here, is that Rossi seems like a possible senate candidate in 06 (against the incumbent Cantwell). The longer Dino "fights" this election, he will lose a great deal of credibility and respect, IMO. If he wants any political future, he will stop whining. So, it's basically a win-win situation.

12. Didn't Scottie say just the other day "we need to move on".......?
That the Dems questioning Ohio was just partisan and something about "conspiracy theories"? Maybe Scottie needs to talk to Rossi about missing the message.

Let me see if I get this straight, what the Dems are complaining about in Ohio and are being told to get over is what the Repubs are going to sue over again in Washington state. My head is spinning. If they get a revote in Washington, why not one in Ohio?
