Kennedy: 'We cannot become Republican clones'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrats should have talked more directly about fundamental values and ideals in last year's presidential campaign, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said Wednesday, outlining a progressive agenda aimed at moving the party and the nation forward.

Democrats must do a better job speaking about the principles they believe in and that have guided the party, said Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, in a speech to the National Press Club.

"We cannot move our party or our nation forward under pale colors and timid voices," said Kennedy, who has served 42 years in the Senate. "We cannot become Republican clones. If we do, we will lose again, and deserve to lose."

for the next 20 years, and we'll lose every election for the next 20 years because of it, and then in 20 years, we'll be further to the right than the republicans.

We need a spine. The repugs will continue to walk all over everything until we
stand up to those thugs. Last Jan. the repugs were caught hacking into the
democrats computers in the nation's Capital Building, and the democrats did nothing.

The media lied about Clinton, Gore, & Kerry, and they did nothing.

The Boxer Rebellion calls for backbone. Senator Kennedy did not stand then.
I do not want to hear from him now.

The Conyers' report gave cover to anybody who wanted to stand ..... I saw
a lot of talk but no action.

Have the repugs explain Deleware, OH. Precincts with more democrats now than in 2000 had less votes for Kerry than Gore. Failure to stand as one allows the corrupt
and evil Delay, bush family, Rove, Enron, Halliburton, and PNAC goon crew to roll on.
