White House ducks torture proposal queries
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apwashington_story.asp?category=1153&slug=Congress%20Torture

WASHINGTON -- The White House fended off questions Thursday about whether it pressured Congress to kill a Senate proposal that would have prohibited intelligence officials from torturing foreign prisoners.

Democratic and Republican congressional aides said the proposal probably wasn't going to go anywhere anyway because the House adamantly opposed it and refused to include it in any form in the intelligence reform bill.

The New York Times reported Thursday that Congress dropped the proposal under pressure from the Bush administration.

"We did not view the provision as necessary, because there are already laws on the book to address these issues," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Thursday in response to questions raised by the report.

2. Lame Ass Coward--the WH nixxed it b/c they OPPOSED it, not b/c it
was somehow accessory or complimentary to other law.

Stand up and say that the WH opposes such laws!!

The secret inside memo's confirm this.

The behind closed door attempts to remove the proposal confirms this.

Man up, and say what you mean, weasly ass coward.

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC excuse for a WARTIME PRESIDENCY!!!!

5. Enough of this crap...
...just assume the worst is true when we can't get answers from our public officials. I don't care if the assumption is totally accurate or not....if they don't answer questions about torture, energy task force, Abu Ghraib, WMD, Chalabi, or whatever, just make up some damn story and let them prove otherwise. Sadly, we probably couldn't make up stories worse than the truth about the BA.

Somehow, republicans and media are able to fabricate dark interpretations of democrats' actions and talk endlessly about them as though they were true. But many democrats are unwilling to call a spade a spade if the subject is unpleasant, and even more afraid to play the game and assume the worst.

I'm tired of seeing my party play nice with this "biggest bunch of crooked liars" we've ever seen.
