Europe Must Work with Bush, Says Ex-Envoy
Scotsman

By John Deane, PA Chief Political Correspondent

Europe must abandon its “schizophrenic” attitude to American power and work with President George Bush to tackle international problems, a former British ambassador to the United States urged today.

Sir Christopher Meyer said he believed that President Bush, who is being inaugurated in Washington later today, wants to pursue a more multilateral approach to global security issues in his second term in the White House.

That appeared to be the case even over Iraq, where the US-led invasion during President Bush’s first term badly damaged relations between Washington and several European governments.

Europe’s leaders would be unwise to pass over that opportunity, said Sir Christopher, who is now chairman of the Press Complaints Commission.

1. Lord Chamberlain promises 'Peace In Our Time'!
Says that the world can work with the Bush administration, and that the US promises not to invade any other countries -- this winter.

3. Europe should think of Europe and deal with the US with caution
while the tyrant controls America.

Europe should not allow it to seem that Bush is attempting to build a mutual coalition for the benefit of anyone (save himself), since it would not be the truth. Shrub has never bothered to consider Europe and Europe well knows that...

5. The multilateral approach to security
US to Skip Landmine Conference 26th Nov 2004

withhold money from countries cooperating with ICC 16th Dec 2004

Joint efforts against global warming obstructed by US refusal to cooperate 21st Dec 2004

US, Japan, Australia and India to form disaster relief coalition 29th Dec 2004 (note how he hadn't bothered talking to European countries, or the UN)

Yeah, I can see that after Nov 2nd, Bush is really trying hard to cooperate with the rest of the world, especially Europe. :eyes:

12. Why? The US is broke and is spending on credit. Its
military is tied up in futile invasions. As evidenced by its trade deficit, the US doesn't manufacture enough to meet its needs and relies on foreign nations for its supplies. The only thing it has going for it is its reputation, but that reputation is being frittered away.

Sounds like a weak sister to me.
