Poll says Russians losing faith in the Kremlin

A recent sociological study indicates Russians are losing faith in their government, Interfax news agency reported Wednesday.

According to the findings of a poll held by the Yury Levada Analytic Center in January, 66 percent of Russians evaluated their government's general work as inefficient, while only 28 percent gave a positive evaluation, Interfax said. In December 2004, the figures were 62 percent and 33 percent, in that order, the news agency said.

At the same time, 44 percent of the respondents said they were convinced the government would be unable to change the situation in Russia for the better in the near future, Interfax said.
