White House Has No Opinion On Grasso's Pay Package

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

The Bush administration said Wednesday it had no opinion on the controversy surrounding New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso's $140 million pay package.

"That is a matter for the board of the New York Stock Exchange," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said. ---

New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi and North Carolina State Treasurer Richard Moore have both called on Grasso to resign over the size of the pay package. Both Hevesi and Moore oversee billions in investments in the stock exchange.
