Fear reigns across Iraq on the eve of election

~snip~

This man is not a criminal. He's an organizer of tomorrow's election.

"It's as if I'm not working in a legitimate Iraqi operation," he said in exasperation. "It's as if I'm doing something illegal, as if I'm in a party and I want to overthrow the government, as if I'm part of an underground organization."

On the eve of its historic election, Iraq has become a country where everything, including the election itself, is upside down.

In Iraq, the "good guys" wear ski masks as they patrol the streets in police cars, while the insurgents brazenly execute victims in broad daylight.
