WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Under pressure to start bringing U.S. troops home from Iraq (news - web sites) after Sunday's election, President Bush (news - web sites) said on Saturday that the U.S. mission must keep going to help the new government get its footing.


"As democracy takes hold in Iraq, America's mission there will continue," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "Our military forces, diplomats and civilian personnel will help the newly elected government of Iraq establish security and train Iraqi military police and other forces."

He added: "Terrorist violence will not end with the election."

The president is under growing pressure at home to show signs of progress in Iraq, with the U.S. death toll having surpassed 1,400 and members of Congress increasingly uneasy about the costs in blood and money.

Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy (news, bio, voting record), a critic of Bush's Iraq policy, said on Thursday that the United States should start to withdraw military and politically from Iraq and aim to pull out all troops as early as possible next year.

Though the media ignored Kerry's statement and failed to do any substantive follow-up research, his comments were well-grounded in reality. On the day of the debate the Christian Science Monitor spotlighted the findings of defense specialist John Pike, whose website, GlobalSecurity.org, located twelve "enduring bases" in Iraq, including satellite photos and names. In March, the Chicago Tribune reported that US engineers were constructing fourteen such long-term encampments--the number Kerry referred to. The New York Times previously placed the number at four.


While the exact figure may change, suspicions of undisclosed US imperial plans--exemplified by permanent military bases--rightfully linger. Before the war, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz suggested moving US troops stationed in Saudi Arabia into Iraq. In October, a survey by the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy Attitudes found that two-thirds of respondents disapproved of a permanent military presence, even though more than half thought the US would build the bases anyway.


Now comes a report in the New York Sun by Eli Lake revealing that the Pentagon (news - web sites) is building a permanent military communications system in Iraq, a necessary foundation for any lasting troop presence. The new network will comprise twelve communications towers throughout Iraq, linking Camp Victory in Baghdad to other existing (and future) bases across the country, eventually connecting with US bases in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan (news - web sites).


"People need to get realistic and think in terms of our presence being in Iraq for a generation or until democratic stability in the region is reached," Dewey Clarridge, the CIA (news - web sites)'s former chief of Arab operations (and Iran-contra point man), told the Sun.

seems to know about the neoCONimperialists' intention for a permanent military presence. Even the majority of congress members are ignorant about this intention. However, more and more individuals are finally starting to get that information.

Here's the shocker: guess who subscribes to his newsletter? Corporations. Companies which do business overseas. Futures traders, stock brokers, anyone who has an interest in informed news about what's going to happen.

And they pay big bucks to find out. These guys are no fortune tellers which a robe and a crystal ball. They have an excellent reputation, and Mr. Celente has made millions from the futures market, by turning his knowledge into $$$$.

THEY ALL KNOW. They all know what's going to happen in Iraq. It's all a complete sham. There are no Pollyannas out there, hanging on Bush's every word, and oh yes for sure Democracy is on the march in Iraq.

Which means that they are taking action now. The ones left holding the bag will be the people who believe him (a lot of Americans) and the rest of us.

US' choice, just like in Vietnam.

When that happens, here's my prediction: the vast majority of the US will finally turn against the war, including those who fight it.

They know,...they are counting on it.

The objective is: permanent military presence.

Perpetual bloodshed,...accomplishes that objective.

Our soldiers are merely pawns in a plan for domination.

They know.

I must say that I don't blame them. Even though they enlisted and knew that war was a possibility, they are being misused. I would not want to go back to risk dying for lies either.

If we leave Iraq, whoever is elected leader will probably be deposed in a coupe or civil war.

If we stay whoever is elected does not have the stamp of legitinacy because he needs a foreign military to prop him up. Violence will continue anyhow because of the Rumsfeld doctorine of not adequately supplying our troops what they need.
