Report: Explosives-Filled Truck Explodes in Tajik Capital, Killing One

MOSCOW (AP) - A truck loaded with explosives blew up in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on Monday morning, killing one person, Russian news agencies reported.
The truck was parked outside the country's Emergency Situations Ministry, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported, citing preliminary information from the Tajik Interior Ministry.

There was no immediate indication of who was responsible for the blast. Impoverished Tajikstan suffered five years of civil war between pro-Moscow and Islamic forces, which ended in 1997 with a U.N.-brokered power-sharing agreement, and it is a key channel for drugs being transported from neighboring Afghanistan to markets in Russia and Europe.
