Bush Renominates 20 Failed Judicial Nominees
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush set up a showdown with Senate Democrats on Monday by renominating 20 failed judicial nominees, many of whom had been denounced by critics as "right-wing extremists."

The renewed battle over the nominees promises to produce plenty of fireworks as Bush begins his second term with an expanded Senate Republican majority and still-defiant Senate Democrats.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, has threatened to change the Senate's rules to prevent any more procedural hurdles known as filibusters against judicial nominees.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has vowed Democrats are "not going to cut and run" from any such fight.

Democrats have also promised to retaliate against any rule change by invoking other procedural hurdles that could bring the Senate to a standstill.

to show "the base" what a tough guy he is. I think it makes him look like an even bigger asshole.

10. Does this include Thomas B. Griffith?
He's been practicing law in Utah without a license for the last four years. I wonder if anyone will be so unseemly as to bring up that little factoid in a confirmation hearing?

11. Can the new DU Legislative forum be used as the process proceeds?
Whenever the names of these 20 nominees come up for Senate review, can we keep them in the DU Legislative forum so we can take action. I live in PA with Arlen Specter sitting as the chair of the judiciary committee and would like to make my opposition known as each of the ultra-zealots is under review.

12. Has any republican ever explained why Bush should be the only president
in modern US history not to have some of his judicial nominees blocked? He already has had a near record percentage of his nominees confirmed. His nominees have been confirmed in greater numbers and at a much higher percentage than Clinton's. We now have a near record LOW number of vacancies on the federal courts.

Could republicans be lying to the American people about this issue?

13. The NC judges are going to sail through now
Edwards had blocked the nominations of a few horrible judges. I believe there is a rule that says if one of the Senators from the judge's home state objects, he's out. With Burr in office, those judges are in.

14. Do you suppose that * watches movies over hoping for a different ending??
That maybe this time, Ton Hanks character doesn't get shot and Private Ryan does? (I have to think that * is a big fan of war films, because it's other people doing the fighting and dieing.)

Numbnuts, shit-for-brains, can't learn dumbass.

15. Pathological narcissists often show megalomania and OCD behavior.
Sadly, "appeasement" is also a habitual kind of political behavior.
