Allegations that the secretary of state mishandled election ruled insufficient

By RACHEL LA CORTE
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

OLYMPIA -- An effort to recall Secretary of State Sam Reed will not move forward, a Thurston County Superior Court judge ruled yesterday.

Judge Chris Wickham said the allegations against Reed -- that he mishandled the contested governor's race -- were not sufficient grounds to allow the recall to proceed.

Martin Ringhofer, a Boeing Co. employee, and Seattle resident Linda Jordan argued that mistakes made by Reed led to Democrat Christine Gregoire's ultimately winning a third count and the election by 129 votes.

Wickham's ruling came after nearly three hours of arguments in which Ringhofer and Jordan attempted to prove there was enough evidence that Reed, a Republican, was guilty of misfeasance and malfeasance for certifying the election Dec. 30 while questions still remained over the validity of votes, and some counties were late in certifying the results.

2. It's one win, one left to go.
While it's oddly amusing that the Republicans are trying to eat one of their own, there's still the lawsuit about removing Gregoire from office.

Hopefully that will fizzle out as well.

6. Rossi will NEVER be governor.
He's become the Tim Eyman - a waste of taxpayer money that is flooding small counties with demands and lawsuits.

Even if the election is thrown out, the state Constitution does not allow for another election. Brad Owens - our Democratic LT Governor - will become governor.

Rossi is scum.

3. They never had any chance of winning that recall suit

Ringhofer's a loon and anyone who joined this lawsuit knows nothing of Washington state law. (Ringhofer is forever running for Seattle School Board - read one of his voter's pamphlet statements and that'll tell you all you need to know about Martin Ringhofer. He's a wackjob.)

It's extremely difficult to recall an elected official in Washington state.

I voted against Reed, but I have to say, I've gained a lot of respect for him in this ridiculous fiasco with the Republican Hysteria Machine.

5. There's only one thing worse
than being a Democrat and that's being honest.
