Senators Press Rice for Tougher Action on Syria
U.S. lawmakers from both parties today called on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to consider tougher action against Syria, including new sanctions, after the death of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in a Beirut bomb attack.

``We have to be clear, we have to be direct'' in sending a message to Syria, said Senator George Allen, a Virginia Republican. ``It has to be that terrorist activity is not going to be tolerated.''

1. Is there any evidence?
Has any evidence that Syria is responsible been presented yet?

4. Evidence is not required for a Totalitarian Nation like Amerika
Our Noble and Godly Fuehrer will rapidly divine what is true and act on it.

Ah, the irony of an ever-repeating history.

12. The profiteers' priority is profit,...not people.
They spend all human resources to acquire, acquire, acquire.

For profiteers, the proposition that war delivers peace makes sense: it brings peace of mind to the money-changers who care nothing for the rest of humanity.

17. Worldwide, a child dies every 8 seconds from contaminated water. . .
that's more than 10,800 every day, or almost 4 million every year. Yet we will get apoplectic with rage and spend billions to wage war over the death of a former prime minister.

Yes, where are our priorities? Why can't we see the value we'd incur from positive behavior versus the negligible benefit of acting out of rage?

6. Okay, they all need to be fired immediately. Cr@p!
This Senate just does not learn from its mistakes. Show me the proof that Syria was behind this. While at it, show me the WMD, Saddam's lunch with Usama, Jeff Gannon's body of journalistic work and the FAA tapes from the morning of 9/11.

If I roll my good eye one more time, I'll pull something.

:argh:

29. If there is a higher power in heaven ...
I hope the good people of Virginia will vote out this RW spastic Senator when he comes up for re-election.

Sen Warner (R) has many, emphasis MANY wrong opinions and misconceptions. However, he comes across as genuinely concerned and a person of good character.

But Senator Allen, as Lynn Cheney would say about ANY Democrat, "IS NOT A GOOD MAN."

30. Don't cry but chalk it up to "the political" game that ALL POLITICIANS
must play to survive in BushWorld.

It's true: What do you call 200 politicians at the bottom of the ocean?

Answer: A good start.

Politicians, by their very nature have to be duplicitous to survive.

I don't idolize any one person (well, with the exception of my father), that helps in keeping touch with reality.

However, they're a necessary evil. We make politicians DO THEIR JOB only through the threat of getting them voted out of office come their next re-election campaign.

Thank goodness for MoveOn.org!

....that the Syrians had anything to do with this. This is just another of this criminal administration's attempts at stirring the pot in order to justify military action.

20. I'd have doubts about that.
Generally, when the Saudis have someone killed, they prefer to be a lot quieter and more subtle about it. It's not impossible, but this strikes me as somebody else, someone with more disregard for the municipal tranquility.

34. Yes. Lots less messy than allowing another attack in the USA.
If this can get the ball rolling, another 9/11 might not be necessary.

Of course, a draft will be needed to support new campaigns--& the death of a foreign politician might not be sufficient motivation for that.
