Iran envoy: We helped US in Iraq polls
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/FA3DCC84-3173-4BE6-9022-C00A94B71234.htm

Iran cooperated closely with the United States to win support among the Iraqi population for elections there last month, the Iranian ambassador to Britain has said.

Ambassador Muhammad Husain Adeli on Wednesday also said that Tehran was ready to work again with the US to ensure stability in the Middle East when their interests converged.

"For the recent elections, there was not only implicit but explicit indirect and direct cooperation between the two, Iran and the United States, in order to keep the majority calm and in favour of the election," Adeli said.

Tehran and Washington have not had diplomatic links since the 1979 Islamic revolution and relations between them are currently tense.

3. The Iranians got more for the effort than the Bushies did
Sistani slate: 48% of the vote/140 out of 275 seats
Allawi slate: 14% of the vote/40 seats

4. Read between the lines Smirky.
If you attack Iran you'll have a ten fold increase in the Iraq insurgency.

5. Sure, of course
Open elections in Iraq was a Sistani/Iran idea from the beginning. US never wanted elections but selections, but because of Sistani's Shias in Iraq and rest of the world in UNSC forced their hand, US had no choise but to agree. Very generous of Iranians to give some credit to US official line... NOT! :D

This is just extremely polite way of saying: We fucked you yankees, fucked you well, and we both know we did!
