White Hen suit blames bad coffee cups on maker

When a company sold White Hen Pantry on a new coffee cup, it promised a sharp look and such solid workmanship that the so-called "KX2" design needed no annoying double-cupping.

But the paper cup that landed in the hands of thousands of groggy commuters every morning gave many of them a troubling wake-up call.

The new White Hen cups leaked and in some cases even burst, "drenching White Hen's customers and their cars, furniture and clothing with coffee," according to a complaint filed in federal court Thursday.
