Pentagon denies invading Iran airspace
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=5ba9f6c3d40175f0

Big News Network.com Wednesday 23rd February, 2005

Despite Iranian claims to the contrary, U.S. military aircraft are not flying missions in Iran's airspace, Pentagon spokesman Larry Di Rita said in Washington Tuesday.

"I would consider the source and leave it at that," Di Rita told reporters at a Pentagon news conference. "I'm telling you that we're not doing those kinds of activities."

Di Rita emphasized he speaks only for the Defense Department, but cautioned reporters not to interpret that to mean other agencies may be flying over Iran. "It's not for me to speak for other departments," he said. "It is our belief that it's not happening elsewhere (in the government) either."

So if its not the Pentagon who is it???

Until a U-2 was shot down.

It's just a matter of time until we see video of Iranians jumping up and down on the wreckage of a downed US UAV....

4. Hmm...
... Larry Di Rita is so credible his teeth squeak... not.

Guess all the Iranians on the ground were right--it is UFOs, not US unmanned surveillance craft. Time to get the Area 51 crowd on this story right away!

As others have said, there will soon be pictures of the pieces of one.

8. That's one denial since THE "denial."
I expect another half-dozen between now and June.

Are we supposed to believe they are so incompetent as to not monitor the situation "next door" to our pet project Iraq OR

WORSE.

I'd laugh, but it just hurts too much.

10. Can the UN security council pass a resolution to prohibit this

activity and monitor and enforce it?

Seems like nipping it in the bud if possible is the way to go.

Life isn't a football game. You may want to consider joining the army, if this is your considered opinion, however.

Subtle, subtle ... anyone not familiar with the true situation might
think that you were calling Iran the "country of fanatic Nuke seeking
terrorists" rather than America!

You really should put a "/sarcasm" flag on it though :-)

18. Yes, indeed tough call
When left to believe either a country of fanatic Nuke USING terrorists or the country I call home I'm going to have to go for the home team no matter who is its temporary leader.

The US can stuff it.

It's a sad day when you can barely differentiate the US from Iran, isn't it?

Cat And Mouse Game Over Iran

DigitalGlobe file photo of Iran's Parchin suspected nuclear site.
by Richard Sale, UPI Intelligence Correspondent
New York (UPI) Jan 26, 2005
The U.S. Air Force is playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Iran's ayatollahs, flying American combat aircraft into Iranian airspace in an attempt to lure Tehran into turning on air defense radars, thus allowing U.S. pilots to grid the system for use in future targeting data, administration officials said.
"We have to know which targets to attack and how to attack them," said one, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The flights, which have been going on for weeks, are being launched from sites in Afghanistan and Iraq, and are part of Bush administration attempts to collect badly needed intelligence on Iran's possible nuclear weapons development sites, these sources said, speaking on condition of strict anonymity.

"These Iranian air defense positions are not just being observed, they're being 'templated,'" an ad ministration official said, explaining that the flights are part of a U.S. effort to develop "an electronic order of battle for Iran" in case of actual conflict.

unfortunately the sources are anonymous, but still looks pretty damning
