Politicians and police in Britain warned of IRA threat
Gerry Moriarty, Northern Editor

British politicians and senior police officers and others seen as possible targets of the Provisional IRA are being warned to increase their personal security, the British government has confirmed.

The warnings of potential IRA attack were issued after the existing threat level in Britain was reassessed and upgraded in the wake of the current security and political "turbulence", a British government spokesman told The Irish Times.

The risk level was raised following the Northern Bank robbery, the murder of Robert McCartney and the alleged involvement of the IRA in multi-million pound money laundering.

The spokesman stressed, however, that he was not intimating the IRA was planning to break its ceasefire. <snip>

1. Back to the "good old days"...
with the IRA dropping a couple of random mortar rounds onto Heathrow just to keep the Brits on their toes. What's the deal with the IRA being back in the news lately?

2. The IRA will release a statement that the ceasefire....
is no longer in effect if they plan on breaking it. I don't know how effective PIRA can be after decommissioning weapons three times in the recent past.

Sounds to me like HMG is trying to put some pressure on Sinn Fein and the IRA. They know that PIRA has said they would not go back to the armed struggle. I wish Whitehall, Dublin and Belfast would quit screwing around and get the peace process back on track.

3. I think the boys-in-charge are working to push this:
Clarke tries to rush through anti-terror law (U.K.)

Drum up some hysteria to ram some shit through and simultaneously bash Sinn Fein, an all-in-one ...

4. The British PR machine is in full force
they will shift the blame to the IRA despite the fact that they and unionists have failed to live up to their side of the GFA.

5. Blair-I need a campaign platform, now!
This is the way it's going to go. the Corporations/top.01%
have got their fangs bared. Ecoregions, former colonies,
anyone who looks to breakaway from the aforementioned
will get the same treatment.

Get Ready.
