ONE SOLDIER DEAD, TWO OTHERS INJURED IN VEHICULAR ACCIDENT(1498)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ONE SOLDIER DEAD, TWO OTHERS INJURED IN VEHICULAR ACCIDENT

LSA ANACONDA, BALAD, Iraq � One 1st Corps Support Command Soldier is dead and two others were injured as a result of a vehicular accident about 20 miles northwest of Tikrit near the town of Bayji Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.

The Soldier who died was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and the wounded Soldiers were evacuated to nearby hospitals.

The names of the Soldiers are being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

1. Many "accidents" in Iraq are attacks.

They cover up the exact numbers by calling them accidents when there are no nonmilitary witnesses.

2. A recent Wash Post story was about an accident

The humvee in question was driving along a canal at 4:30 a.m. without lights, presumably to avoid detection by Iraqi resistance. So, these accidents can be indirectly linked to combat.

I am not saying that is necessary so in this case, just pointing out an example.
