Judge rules governor illegally blocked new nursing staff ratios (Arnie)
Judge rules governor illegally blocked new nursing staff ratios
By JIM WASSERMAN, Associated Press Writer

Thursday, March 3, 2005

(03-03) 17:17 PST SACRAMENTO, (AP) --

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger suffered a major potential setback Thursday when a judge tentatively ruled that he illegally blocked a law boosting the number of nurses needed to staff California's hospitals.

Sacramento County Judge Judy Holzer Hersher ruled tentatively in favor of a preliminary injunction to lift emergency state regulations that stopped the law — the first of its kind nationally — from taking effect Jan. 1.

Holzer Hersher's ruling, the first step in several possible legal scenarios leading toward a trial, represented an early victory for the 60,000-member California Nurses Association, which has protested the governor's decision in numerous public settings for months. The union nurses have marched on the Capitol, flown message-trailing planes over the governor's home and picketed his speeches and public events. In turn, Schwarzenegger said during a recent women's day event that he was "kicking their butts."

Thursday's court decision sets the stage for a 10 a.m. hearing Friday in Sacramento Superior Court where lawyers for the governor, California Hospital Association and California Nurses Association will conduct oral arguments regarding the ruling.

4. arnold is anti-working class but hides it w/anti-UNION words.....
like the special interest nurse union does not represent the actual nurses. what a dumbass.

read in the LA Times to day that arnold's spokesperson cannot understand that the teachers ARE the teachers union...as if the union is totally unrelated to actual teachers....what a dumb ass.

PS - if i was a nurse and arnold came injured to my hospital I would be very conflicted about giving him care unless he paid cash up front.

5. Good News and the proper action
I just completed an e-mail to the gov on this very matter expressing my opposition to his action lowering the nurse ratio.

I didn't know what authority he used to lower the ration to begin with.

Hope the hearing supports the nurses and re-establish the ratio.

6. Critics say
"Critics have called the CNA-sponsored law a move by organized labor to increase the number of dues-paying union nurses nationally."

These same critics would be shocked, *shocked*, by any accusations that profits and bottom lines are motivating the blockage of these new requirements. What a racket.

7. Judge better watch out - Aahnold will "go to the people" and try to have

him recalled. Aahnold must be getting a little pissed by now that when he says "Jump!" , instead of people saying "How high?" they are saying "Up yours!"

On Edit: It also must really chaff Arnie's butt that it is a bunch of "girls" that is kicking his butt. He is probably going home to Maria and whining, "Why do those wimmen hate me so much?"

9. Judge: Schwarzenegger Delayed Nurse Laws Illegally
SACRAMENTO (AP) - In a significant blow to Gov. Arnold Scwarzenegger, a judge has ruled that he acted illegally when he delayed implementation of a state law requiring hospitals to have at least one nurse for every five patients.

16. Ah, he'd be in rich boy jail
if it ever came to that. I think he should have to reimburse the taxpayers of CA and the Nurses' Association for his games with them
and causing them to incur legal and travel expenses.

He's a crook...we can only hope the law will apply to him too! I never
voted for that jerk either. I would have preferred Father Guido Sarducci!
