WA GOP Releases List in Voter Challenge (Rossi/Gregoire deathmatch)
Wash. GOP Releases List in Voter Challenge
By RACHEL LA CORTE, Associated Press Writer
Thursday, March 3, 2005
(03-03) 20:09 PST Olympia, Wash. (AP) --

Republicans have released 1,135 names of alleged felons who they say illegally cast ballots in the governor's race that Democrat Christine Gregoire won by 129 votes.

The list turned over to Democratic Party lawyers on Thursday contained the names and addresses of the alleged felons, along with 45 people who Republicans say died before the Nov. 2 election but who were listed as having voted.

"It's one more significant piece of evidence that this past election was not only deeply flawed but that we don't know who won," said Mary Lane, a spokeswoman for Republican opponent Dino Rossi, who is challenging the results in court. "Christine Gregoire is not the legitimately elected governor."

Democrats, who have intervened in the suit on the side of the state and argue the election should stand, said they doubt the accuracy of the list.

10. No, a revote in Ohio would be pointless. The deck is stacked this time.
Besides, a difference of 129 votes is a much bigger difference than the thousands of votes difference.

13. That's The ONLY Way
I'd ever approve of a revote in Washington State... if Ohio, et al have revotes.

4. In the words of Hannity --
In the words of Sean Hannity, "You Lost.. Get over it!". ;)

Could the Republicans be any more hypocritical, especially given some of the words that were said when the Dems were challenging the results in Ohio.

7. The WA GOP is in a funny Catch-22
If they bring any felons into a court the felons can invoke the 5th as othwise they could incriminate themselves by admitting they voted.

12. Notice they don't ever say
who those "criminals" voted for. Maybe more went to Rossi than Gregoire of those votes.

15. My thoughts too.
The list may be 100% accurate. And the Repubs know it, because every one of the names on the list was one of their projects.

16. I know of at least one dead person who voted for GW
There was an article posted in 2004 ER&D during the Washington State controversy about a man whose wife died before the election who said she begged him if she died to vote George back in, it was her dying wish. I think it was a Seattle newspaper. If he gave her vote to George, I'm guessing he also gave one to Rossi. I'll take a look around to see if I can find the article.

18. Here's one who admits he voted for Rossi for his dead wife...
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/206969_dead07.html

"Bob Holmgren said yesterday that he voted on behalf of his late wife, Charlette Holmgren, who died Sept. 29. The West Seattle man filled out his own ballot and hers, and signed both of them.

"Her vote was important to her," Holmgren said. "She was very strongly against Governor-elect Gregoire." Election officials said all signatures on absentee ballots were doubled-checked against the signature on record."

17. Wouldn't it be lovely....
..if when this gets to court, the Dems whip out the study of Sonomish County and those pesky electronic machines. It puts thousands more votes in question. It seems there was a marked jump in the # of Repug votes on those machines, but not during the early voting, just on election day.

19. Number one - they need a list of "ineligible" voters in all counties.
And secondly - who compiled the list - ChoicePoint?

My guess is that the numbers of ineligible voters balanced out across the state. Anyway, there is no way to tell after the fact how people voted so isn't this all a moot point?

20. All Democrats have to do is find one name on that list that is incorrect -
and the Repuke case goes down in flames.

22. I'm sure Hannity will discuss this on his entertainment show??
Or will he forget to mention the constant whining of the GOP like diaper wearing babies.along with their own "evidence" going against them.
Remember PROOF is not needed in the eyes of the GOP lemmings, just the accusation is enough for them. Pass the kool-aide please.
