Daily Show' Mocks Gannon/Guckert

NEW YORK Former reporter/escort Jeff Gannon finally got his true 15 minutes of fame--in a lengthy sketch on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" on Thursday night.

In a segment covering the blog phenomenon, another fake correspondent, Rob Cordrey, went step-by-step on how to make a name for yourself, and some money, by developing a site, and then a "persona," on the Web, sort of like James Guckert, better known as Jeff Gannon. Cordrey even interviewed a real blogger, Jay Rosen, of PressThink (and New York University), noting that he was surprised to find Rosen with his pants on, instead of pajamas.

But then he got to Gannon takeoff, donning a false moustache and wig to portray a newsman named Dino Ironbody. "Time to journalize," he said. Then he crashed a real press conference earlier this week conducted by a New York City official, badgering him with a question about Social Security privatization.

Worth watching!

It was more entertaining to watch Ari Fletcher (on the same show) dodge questions from Stewart.

I love to see this kind of mockery of our media.

Maher had Robbin Williams on in the latter part of that last video. As usual Robbin Williams was both spontaneous and hilarious on this issue. He even made old Biden "lose it" and crack up laughing.

I can't keep up with watching daily, and actually have not watched for the last two weeks.

I have the last two weeks of shows still on my hard drive. I'll have to look for this sketch. Anything else particularly memorable the last couple of weeks to look at before erasing the shows?

I was in Westfield NJ today to protest bush's presence in my home state and his Social Security scheme. When the "guests" were leaving I noticed a guy who looked like Gannon but with a little more hair. I yelled out to him 'hey Jeff Gannon!' and he turned and definitely heard me as I kept waving and saying Hi. Someone else was yelling pick up lines to this Gannon look alike. It was funny! A lot of the Rethugs do look like Gannon.
