Pa. (Supreme Court) Justice Pays Fine for Carrying Knife
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A state Supreme Court justice said Friday he paid a $750 federal fine for trying to sneak a pocketknife on board an airplane last month.

"I just wanted to get this matter behind me," Justice Thomas G. Saylor Jr. said. "Really, my only comment is ... I did a really dumb thing, which I obviously regret."

Saylor and his wife were going through a checkpoint for a flight from Harrisburg International Airport when screeners found a Swiss Army-type knife attached to his key chain, police said.

The knife was later found in a shoe inside his carry-on luggage when Saylor went back through the screening area a second time, police said.

Saylor said the knife was a gift from a friend that he did not want to give up.

1. heh. i know what that feels like. i didn't want to give up a beautiful
cigar lighter that they wouldn't let me take on the plane (it's a torch! they said), so i had to go back and check it at a counter for $15. luckily, the counter was open when i returned as well, so i was able to get it back.

2. There, see? You obeyed the law.
YOU should be the judge. This guy knew what he was doing, but dopey rule or no, you or I would follow the law. We should BOTH be judges! LOL

Aren't the airport laws federal? Homeland Security type laws? What class law can a Supreme Court Justice break and still be fit?

I just hope they knew he was a judge and embarrassed the heck out of him for trying to sneak it through the second time.
