Spain's troop withdrawal affects U.S. study abroad programs
---Another Ugly American hissy-fit :) ---

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Two community colleges have ended their study-abroad program in Spain, citing the country's troop withdrawal from Iraq.
Trustees of the South Orange County Community College District, comprising Irvine Valley College and Saddleback College, voted 5-2 last week to cancel the 14-year-old summer program.

"Spain has abandoned our fighting men and women, withdrawing their support," said trustee Tom Fuentes, a former head of the Republican Party in Orange County. "I see no reason to send students of our colleges to Spain at this moment in history."

They could even carpool.

But I guess Spain has paella. And ceceo.

9. I hear that
I'm a pacifist but I've never wanted to do harm to someone so much in my life as I do to the people killing our country.

4. For us or against us... why isn't the US bombing ITSELF?
We helped make Saddam. We gave him weapons. We helped make Al Quaeda. we gave them weapons.

All in the name of fightin' them rotten' commies.

:eyes:

We caused our own problems and then project them onto everyone else because, we, of course, can't ever do wrong.

Such arrogance on the repukes'/corporate america's part is infuriating.

Freedom omelet, Freedom paella, Freedom wine, Freedom tapas, etc...

Freedom fly?

Or the David Mamet movie: "The Freedom Prisoner."

Ha!

Says it all. Fuck 'em. I am sure Spain is happy to hear this, because one thing that great nation does not need is more college repuke assholes fouling up the Iberian landscape.

8. Less junior Republicans traveling to Spain

and embarrassing the rest of us with the "ugly American" attitude.

A few years back, while in traveling in Spain, one asshole frat-boy we met at some bar said: "I'm surprised to come here to Spain and I can't see any spics. Where are all the Mexicans?"

For real.

And he said those words out loud too.

Apparently our pasty and chubby Nebraskan friend missed somewhere along the way the idea that Spain is a European country. He was really expecting mariachis with big sombreros and pan flutes. The behavior of this guy was crass. He was living up to the infamous idea of the "ugly American" that many tourists leave in Europe.

I couldn't believe how little he knew about that country he was visiting. Basically nothing. And he didn't care much either.

Yup. Spain can live with fewer community college exchanges if it means less idiots like that guy trashing their beautiful country.

cultures. I lived in this place in the early 80's, I've been back to visit, my uncle is rather influential in a not so good way or maybe that it is all in how one looks at what he does and has done, (he has made lots of money, problem, he gives it all away to those he deems in need).

These people need help (The RW, Fundamentalist, NutJobs).

"Spain has abandoned our fighting men and women, withdrawing their support," said trustee Tom Fuentes, a former head of the Republican Party in Orange County. "I see no reason to send students of our colleges to Spain at this moment in history."

Especially, Tom Fuentes!

Just one more "shock and awe" and from a "Republican" at that.

I'd love to go back to Orange Co and use my uncle's influence to finally end the corruption in this ugly little RICH county.
