Pakistan Can Be Model for Islamic World, Rice Says (A dictatorship)
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000080&sid=a9rHFihTnQtI&refer=asia

March 17 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistan, a key ally in U.S.-led war on terrorism, is a pivotal country in South Asia and can be a model for the Islamic world, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said during a visit to Islamabad.

Rice, ``appreciated Pakistan's constructive role in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan,'' Pakistan's government said in a statement issued late yesterday after Rice held separate meetings with Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Rice arrived from India for two days of talks to boost relations between the countries. She is scheduled to meet Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khurshid M. Kasuri today after making a brief visit to Afghanistan.

The U.S. in 2004 designated Pakistan a major ally outside the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Pakistan has supported the U.S.-led war against terrorism that began after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon and extended intelligence and logistical support to U.S. forces for their operation in Afghanistan to oust the Taliban regime and al-Qaeda terrorists it was harboring.

And it must be damn good too. Sure would be tragic if she overdosed.

13. Sort of the...
... "play ball with the US and we won't care how undemocratic you are" routine. Be nice and you won't be bombarded/invaded/sanctioned.

Hell, there were people inside Musharraf's intelligence services funding the 9/11 attackers, A.Q. Khan running a nuclear weapon components bazaar out of Pakistan, Pakistani ISI helping al-Qaeda members escape Afghanistan in 2001.

This statement is almost the definition of corruption. This latest is to make Musharraf believe it's in his interest to deny the Indians and the Iranians the right to run the recently-proposed natural gas pipeline through Pakistan. Sometime, somewhere, this position will change when a US company gets the rights to the gas and its transmission....

This administration is not only corrupt, it's transparently so.

19. Well it wasn't based on her father's name . . . .
and since she's a woman (I think she is???) the next logical question is who the hell did she sleep with to get that job? I doubt it is her high intelligence or practical common sense.

With her rubber face -- and cry baby voice she'd be a piss poor poker player.

(goes outside and spits). After enduring 5 hideous years of these people, this is the ultimate.

Just watch.....soon Condaloser will start being more and more upfront about what their REAL intentions are.

Like, "We need to occupy Iraq because we need their oil".

What a bunch of bullshit.Musharraf is not a demorcratic elected person in that country. if the Bush administration are so gun ho about spreading demorcracy around the world as they keep saying then they should demand Pakistan hold elections. but the bush administration won't because Musharraf is there BOY!. and they want him in there. in fact the Bush administration helped Musharraf overthrow the demorcratic government in that country because in there mind the government was to radical. DEMOCRACY MY ASS!

and she loves Musharraf, a tin pot dictator that deposed a democratically elected government.

Sooo, in Condi's twisted world:

Slavery = freedom

Repression = democracy
