End in sight? CNH workers to vote on contract Saturday (Racine WI)
By Michael Burke

RACINE - Case-New Holland's winter-long lockout of its union tractor plant employees could end Saturday.

CNH announced Thursday afternoon that it had reached a "proposed settlement agreement" with United Auto Workers. The proposal will go to UAW members Saturday morning for a vote. <snip>

However, the proposal will get no push from UAW negotiators. It is being presented with a neutral position, explained John Valko, president of UAW Local 180 in Racine. <snip>

"They've been out there (on the picket lines) for 20 weeks, so we need to let them make a decision," Valko added. <snip>
