http://www.kuna.net.kw/Home/Story.aspx?Language=en&DSNO=714725with IRAQ-ATTACK-POLICE) BAGHDAD, March 18 (KUNA) -- US forces exchanged fire with anonymous insurgents while trying to execute a raid on a neighborhood in the western Iraqi town of Al-Hudaitha on Friday and separately a US military force was targeted with car bomb in the same town.
Iraqi security sources told reporters that US forces burst into Al-Refai neighborhood in Al-Hudaitha town, located in Al-Anbar governorate, searching for specific insurgents. US forces, before the raid, dropped flyers on Al-Refai neighborhood calling on residents to hand over the wanted insurgents.
Eyewitnesses said that there were civilian casualties as a result of the clash which happened right after the Friday prayer. Large US reinforcement forces were dispatched to the scene to back up the engaged troops, they said.
In a separate incident in the same town, a car driven by a suicidal person exploded targeting US forces, said a source who asked not to be identified. He added that smoke clouds were seen above the scene, but casualties were not immediately known. (end) ah.
