Insurgents number 20,000 in Iraq ( really!)
LOL...

http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20050318-093102-3216r.htm

Washington, DC, Mar. 18 (UPI) -- The insurgency fighting coalition forces in Iraq could number around 20,000 people, the head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency says.

Adm. Lowell Jacoby told the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday the insurgency is likely between 15,000 to 20,000-men strong.

Iraqi ministry of defense officials said late last year the insurgency probably numbers around 200,000, including those who provide active support to the fighters.

In November 2003, U.S. Central Command chief Gen. John Abizaid estimated the size of the then-fledgling insurgency at no more than 5,000 people.

my guess? half a million at least...

1. Right, and that's why our 150,000 or so troops
Edited on Fri Mar-18-05 12:02 PM by meganmonkey
are succeeding so quickly.

:eyes:

on edit: doesn't a number like this actually reflect really badly on our military? Why would they release such numbers? You'd think 150,000 troops could kick 20,000 insurgents asses!

8. How many American's have really been "Killed" in Iraq?????
Currently there is a "Strike" on at Centcom. American deaths in Iraq for February are incredibly small. Now i know i'm not America's biggest fan, but if you American's can give me evidence that American deaths are not at the "usual" rate, for a particular reason, outside the evidence that they are hiding in their barracks more, then I will have to concede that America is actually bringing Freedom & Democracy, through a barrel of a gun, to a foreign country. And congratulations to the "Bush Gang" for an incredible foreign policy initiative!. The "Election" was a "Miracle". Or the US army thinks they've killed "Thousands of Guerrilla's" LOL

13. It's how the counting is done that matters.
Well the problem is how they count a casualty. If a soldier is killed at the scene of the attack, then they are listed as KIA,
and added to the number killed.

Now if the soldier is still alive and transported to a field hospital, but then dies either in route or during the operation, they
are listed as killed, but not KIA, and are counted differently.

If the soldier makes it all the way to the military hospital in Germany, but then dies of wounds, that's also counted differently.

Take today as an example, one soldier was reported killed, and several others were reported wounded. What you won't get in the "official" count is any of the wounded who die later.

A Tough Assessment
Bush Ratings Hit New Lows Amid Concerns on Iraq, Economy

Analysis
By Gary Langer
ABCNEWS.com

May 24, 2004— Public assessments of President Bush's job performance have fallen to new lows, pushed by concerns about the military and political situation in Iraq, unhappiness with the prisoner abuse scandal and lingering discontent with his economic stewardship at home.

For the first time in ABCNEWS/Washington Post polls, fewer than half of Americans, 47 percent, approve of Bush's overall job performance, while more, 50 percent, disapprove. The president's approval rating matches Gerald Ford's in the spring before his narrow loss in the 1976 presidential election.

Hammer, hammer, hammer bushco on that War issue, he is now almost defenseless along with the majority of congress about it. A effing fraud to waste the peoples money is all that it was, hammer, hammer, hammer
