Suicide Bombers Target U.S. Troops in Iraq

HADITHA, Iraq (Reuters) - Insurgents attacked U.S. troops with two suicide car bombs in the western Iraqi town of Haditha on Friday, local witnesses said.

They said a suicide bomber detonated a car next to a U.S. patrol after American troops entered the town looking for insurgents. A second suicide car bomb exploded as U.S. troops were securing the area after the first attack, witnesses said.

The U.S. military had no immediate comment on the attacks.

Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq said its "martyrdom brigade" was behind the attacks, according to an Internet message.

"We promise the infidels that our fierce war will continue ... and that God's troops shall prevail over them," said al Qaeda Organization for Holy War in Iraq in a statement posted on an Islamist Web site.

1. Good thing for the internet or I wouldn't know anything about it.
Terry Schiavo and Michael Jackson rule the mainstream news.

3. Odd that this would come out on a Toronto tv station website first.
But it was a Reuter's story, so I suppose it will make the CNN crawl eventually.
