U.S. Warns of Attack on Gulf Oil (right on time)

U.S. WARNS OF ATTACK ON GULF OIL

WASHINGTON -- The United States has warned of an Al Qaida attack on Western oil employees in the Gulf.

The State Department has alerted Americans of the prospect of a range of attacks in the Middle East and Gulf region. Officials said Al Qaida could be targeting Westerners who work in the defense and oil sectors of Gulf Cooperation Council states, particularly Saudi Arabia.

"The department is concerned that extremists may be planning to carry out attacks against Westerners and oil workers in the Gulf region," the department said in a March 14 statement. "Armed attacks targeting foreign nationals in Saudi Arabia that resulted in many deaths and injuries, including U.S. citizens, appear to have been preceded by extensive surveillance."

The State Department said attacks on Americans could take place against aviation, ground transportation and maritime interests. The statement cited the Middle East, including the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa, adding that security concerns could result in the closure of U.S. embassies and consulates.

Peak Oil will now be blamed on the invisible "Al Queada"...not the lack of planning the US Govt has done for the past 30+ years.

They don't miss a trick.

1. This is why we need to drill in ANWR
Only those who hate Murka are opposed to drilling everywhere. Never mind that we heard the same bullshit back in the 70's when they first opened up the North Slope. "We need this oil to decrease our dependency on the Middle East". But since the oil companies could make more money selling that oil to Japan, none of it got into the US supply, meanwhile we import even more.

2. I doubt any oil they pump in the US stays here.
Isn't it funny? as long as they can buy from OPEC for less than what they can sell to Japan or China, We WILL "continue to rely on Foreign Oil"...

4. The great symbiotic strategy of tension. The US creates
"Al Qaeda" to destabilize its "enemies" and at the same time make the Saudi Royal family even more dependent on our "protection" while the royals in turn shift the wrath of Muslims fed up with their corruption back on US. thus completely a perfect circle of never ending strife and handsome profits.

7. As the fuse burns........
The US treads ever so slowly further and further out on a limb....

Our situation is more precarious than it EVER was back in the 70's. We were warned back then that we needed to do something about our ever-increasing dependency on foreign oil. In particular, Middle Eastern oil.

The US did not heed the warning. It's amazing to me that rather than a)cut back (which we should have done), at least we could have b) stayed at the same level. What do we do? We go to option c) increase our dependency.

That's what's so insane about all this. We are literally driving ourselves over a cliff......with Saudi Oil.
