Soldier's Father To Oppose Blair
LONDON, England (AP) 3/20/05

The father of a British soldier killed in Iraq has announced that he plans to challenge Prime Minister Tony Blair for his seat in parliament.

Reg Keys, 52, said he would run as an independent in Blair's home district of Sedgefield, in northeastern England, in national elections expected in May.

"I'm coming for you, Mr. Blair, but I'm going to do it in a civilized way," Keys said in a news conference at the London studio of music producer Brian Eno.

2. I'll send him a Grant the minute I get an address. Thanks for this.
This is the ultimate political nightmare, a true alternative who represents opposition to your biggest mistake. Wouldn't this be sweet! That would show Labour just exactly how low they have sunk.

Former spy to challenge Blair in elections

: London, Mar 19 : A former British spy who is enraged over the government's support to the "illegal" war in Iraq plans to contest against Prime Minister Tony Blair in the upcoming general elections.

David Shayler, a former officer of British intelligence agency MI5, said he would challenge Blair in his constituency, Sedgefield, in northern England.

He would campaign on three issues: "Blair's credibility and ability to lead in the light of his lies over the war; his support of the illegal invasion of Iraq which had put the lives of the British people at greater risk from terrorism; and his attacks on democratic rights".

Shayler had hit headlines after being convicted of breaking Official Secrets Act by passing information to a British newspaper in 1997
